#055 in Curly Hawaiian Koa with Celtic Knot Inlay
Made from rare Curly Hawaiian Koa, with a nice Celtic knot inlaid into the finger grip. The curls in the wood on this pen has a nice chatoyance, and as you move the pen in the sunlight, you will see 3D waves in the pen. It is fascinating to watch.
Note that this pen has been sold. If you "Buy Now", I will make a similar pen for you. Turn around time is approximately 2 days.

Here's a quick tutorial on how I created the pine cone pen above. This was my first pine cone pen, and I can't promise that this is the best way to go about making one, but it's the way I did it.
Start by cutting some 1" PVC pipe to length to fit the pine cone. Seal one end with blue painter's tape
4 pieces ready to go
Trim off the top of the cone if it is too long
Stuff the cones into the PVC
Mix up some casting resin. You can buy this online or at craft stores like Michael's.
My first casting I drilled holes in a 4x4 using a Forstner bit instead of using PVC. Use what works for you.
Cut the cones free and drill holes to accept the pen tubes
Start to turn the pens
Continue turning the pens. Note the voids: this is due to the resin having too much catalyst added and setting up too fast. Fill the voids with CA glue.
No more pictures, but you get the idea. I used a CA glue finish on this pen.
